CLIMATE CHANGE GRIPS AUSSIE POLL DEBATE

Environmental guru Sir Nicholas Stern has caused an uproar in Australia by challenging conservative Prime Minister John Howard on climate change. On a much-hyped tour, Stern called on Howard to reduce his country’s greenhouse gas emissions, adding to the intense political heat on the federal government on this issue.
