Sara Gabai is a PhD candidate in Human Rights and Peace Studies at Mahidol University, Thailand. She has been involved in numerous research activities and projects related to international media literacy, ASEAN media and communications, gender empowerment, transitional justice, human rights, conflict and peace in Southeast Asia. Previously, she worked in UNESCO Bangkok, where she was responsible for supporting the coordination and implementation of activities that aim to promote media development and freedom of expression in the Mekong region. Currently, she is working as Communication Officer for Responsible Asia Forestry and Trade (RAFT) with The Nature Conservancy. Gabai is also the Director of the Digital International Media Literacy eBook (DIMLE) Project, a global initiative designed to promote international media literacy scholarship, and a visiting lecturer in several universities in Thailand teaching courses on media, communications, human rights, conflict and peace.
