Kemariah Duraman

Owner, Kunyit7 Lodge at the Water Village, Brunei Darussalam

Ms Kemariah Duraman has run a homestay in Brunei’s Kampong Ayer, or the ‘water village’, since June 2015. Previously, she worked as trainer, general manager and in sales and marketing for a corporate company for 28 years.

Ms Kemariah set up her business in her late grandfather’s house after it had been empty for two and a half years. An avid trekker and sailor, Ms Kemariah has explored the mangroves and jungles of Brunei Darussalam, Sarawak, Sabah, Malaysia and Indonesia, witnessing the devastation of logging along the way. The experience has driven her to work in eco-tourism, finding ways to give back to the community and the local environment.
