Perpetua “Pep” George has a career spanning work in forest conservation, sustainable production consulting, the fast-moving consumer goods industry, and oil palm plantations. Having previously worked for Unilever, Proforest, and WWF, she is currently the Assistant General Manager for Group Sustainability at Wilmar International. Her current responsibilities cover the implementation of sustainable practices in Wilmar’s oil palm plantation operations and setting the company’s strategy on smallholder sustainability. She is heavily involved in wider engagement with stakeholders within the partnerships and initiatives that Wilmar belong too such as the HCS Approach & Convergence, the Tropical Forest Alliance, and various work streams in the RSPO.

She holds an MSc in botany and anthropology, and her research expertise is in the natural resource use of local communities – particularly on land and forest valuation among the indigenous Dusun people of Sabah.
