EcoConsult (GIZ ForClime II) visiting CIFOR headquarters to learn about and discuss community-based fire prevention and peatland restoration

On 7 December 2018 in the Sentarum Meeting Room, CIFOR welcomed and hosted colleagues from EcoConsult involved in GIZ ForClime II (Forests and Climate Change Programme), a project funded by the German development agency Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ). The project has been assisting to build the capacities of the Kubu Raya Forest Management Unit in West Kalimantan to prevent forest and land fire and to manage peatland. They came to learn about Participatory Action Research, Community-Based Fire Prevention and Peatland Restoration (PAR CBFPR) in Riau as part of their effort to foster best practices and develop a fire prevention strategy for the Forest Management Unit. As we shared similar interests, EcoConsult for GIZ ForClime II was delighted to invite CIFOR to its future workshop to share experiences and lessons from the implementation of the PAR CBFPR project.
