Industri mebel skala kecil di Jepara telah merilis peta panduan untuk menarik pengunjung ke daerah tersebut dan menjadikan sentra-sentra pembuatan mebel sebagai tempat tujuan wisata khas yang terkenal dengan seni ukir ini. Peta ini didesain dan diluncurkan dengan dukungan dari proyek Rantai Nilai Mebel (Furniture Value Chain) yang dilakukan oleh Center For International Forestry Research (CIFOR) untuk mempromosikan para pengrajin mebel skala kecil di kota kelahiran Ibu Kartini

Arild Angelsen, CIFOR senior scientist gives his comments on PEN study result. ‘People are getting quite a lot of resources out of the forests so it is important that if for conservation reasons you need to restrict access to the forest you should be very careful to find out what are the resources that are most important for poor people and incorporate them. The stronger the enforcement of forests, the more the poor are excluded,’ he said.
