Upaya menjaga kelestarian hutan yang masih tersisa di Indonesia, di tengah praktik pembabatan hutan secara ilegal yang masih sulit diatasi, kini mendapat dukungan dari Bank Dunia berupa pemberian insentif. Atas rencana tersebut, Indonesia berpotensi memperoleh manfaat langsung.
"Komunitas internasional sejak lama memerhatikan perlunya menekan laju deforestasi yang cepat, yang berpengaruh pada perubahan iklim global. Karena itu, ini peluang baik bagi Indonesia untuk menyambutnya," kata Penasihat Senior Kelompok Evaluasi Independen Bank Dunia, Kenneth M Chomitz, di Jakarta, Rabu (28/3).

Report advises on best forestry policy
Kenneth M. Chomitz, senior advisor to the World Bank’s Independent Evaluation Group, on Wednesday launched a report on farm expansion, poverty eradication and forestry titled In Dispute.
