Irhami Ridjani, Bupati Kotabaru di Kalimantan Selatan, meminta Menteri Kelautan dan Perikanan Susi Pudjiastuti mendukung program untuk melestarikan hutan mangrove. Dukungan Menteri Kelautan dan Perikanan, katanya, bisa berupa dana penyediaan infrastruktur, khususnya di lokasi wisata hutan mangrove di Desa Langadai dan beberapa daerah lainnya.

Pemerintah daerah Bandung kini tengah mempersiapkan penyesuaian kelembagaan, tata kelola, dan sumber daya manusia terkait berlakunya Undang-Undang Nomor 23 Tahun 2014 tentang Pemerintahan Daerah. Hal itu harus dilakukan karena ada beberapa urusan yang semula ditangani pemerintah kabupaten/kota, seperti kehutanan, kelautan, dan sumber daya mineral, menjadi urusan pemerintah provinsi.

Menurut laporan BNPB, 90 persen kebakaran hutan terjadi disebabkan oleh manusia. Hasil riset Center for International Forestry Research  (CIFOR) menunjukan bahwa banyak kebakaran hutan terjadi berkaitan dengan perkembangan perusahaan kelapa sawit, kayu, dan kertas.
