The forests in Southeast Asia’s forest have been destroyed in a speed that has never been seen in the past. According to the Ministry of Forestry of Indonesia, compared to the annual 1 million ha decrease in the forested area from the 70s to the 90s, the annual destruction has been accelerated to 2.1 million ha since the Asian Economic Crisis. There is an estimate by the World Bank that natural forests in low land will disappear 6 years later in Kalimantan (Borneo Island), the most forested region in Southeast Asia.
