Databases and lists of species as well as plot characteristics from the MLA
surveys in Kalimantan are made available to those interested and
may be downloaded below.
Download plot database: Download a zipped version of the full Microsoft Access 2000
database with the complete data set of 200 field plots, including biophysical
and local perception information. This is a ZIP file of 2.0MB. We refer
to the methods
book for
a description of how these data were collected.
Download list of plots: Download the complete list of characteristics of the 200 field
plots. This includes village, specific location, coordinates, altitude,
description vegetation type, slope steepness, aspect and position.
Download species list: Download the list of taxonomic details for the 2175 species
we found during the survey. Included are family, genus, species, author
(and, where applicable, variety), local names and the number of times
this species was mentioned to have a use.
NOTE: the herb species names on this list have been revised by several botanists, for consistency with current nomenclature (update April 2005). A usefull site to check names and synonyms is the 'International Plant Name Index Query' on http://www.ipni.org/ipni/query_ipni.html
PDM database: The database containing
all the importance scores by local communities regarding use classes
and species. Refer to the methods
book for

sites adopted by the Resilience Alliance (RA) for developing integrated
approaches to conservation and development planning. A description

The Bolivia survey covered two sites, representing two types of forest that are important to local communities: 'bajura' (river side forest, which is regularly flooded), and 'monte alto' (primary forest, with many palm species).
