CIFOR ANNUAL REPORT 2017: BUILDING SUSTAINABLE LANDSCAPES, ONE POLICY AT A TIME

In 2017 CIFOR helped influence new subnational, national and international policy processes on the sustainable use of forest landscapes, and mobilized thousands of people around the Global Landscapes Forum and other key events worldwide.

Our strategic combination of rigorous research, capacity development and targeted outreach and engagement brought science to policy processes on peatland fires and oil palm in Indonesia, and tree plantations in Peru – as well as to global decisions on sustainable wild meat and the value of forests for food security and nutrition. Global comparative research is uncovering patterns in REDD+ initiatives and tenure reform processes in countries across Africa, Asia and Latin America. Other key highlights include migration, gender, inclusive business models, and online mapping tools for transparency.

Read the full report for more about CIFOR’s ongoing search for answers to the world’s thorniest problems – and how a focus on forests and landscapes can help solve them!
