Logging in Solomon Islands is unsustainable, with the production rate clocking in at 11 times the sustainable yield. The forests and wetlands of the island nation are clearly suffering from this malpractice, but the less obvious among those afflicted are women.

Not only does the logging industry make food and water security increasingly more difficult, but it also contributes to prolific sexual and domestic violence. With 64% of women between the ages of 15 and 49 reporting experiences of abuse, the country has one of the highest rates in the world.
