The Government of Japan provides official development assistance to contribute to the peace and security of the international community through economic and social infrastructure development, human resource development and institution building. Since 1995, the Government of Japan has been supporting CIFOR’s research work on the rehabilitation of degraded tropical forests, sustainable forest management, forest fires and ecosystem services for sustainable forest management.
