International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD)

The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) is a specialized agency of the United Nations dedicated to eradicating rural poverty in developing countries. IFAD was established as an international financial institution; its goal is to empower poor rural women and men in developing countries to achieve higher incomes and improved food security. IFAD currently supports CIFOR’s research on strengthening food security and income of smallholder farmers, integrating communities, private sector and government initiatives on peatlands and through a major global comparative study on forest tenure.
