Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad)

The Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD) is a directorate under the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Its task is to ensure effective foreign aid, with quality assurance and evaluation. NORAD is one of CIFOR’s top funding partners, supporting research since 2009. NORAD has supported CIFOR’s global comparative REDD+ work, as well as projects on natural resource management, research into tropical deforestation, illegal logging and sustainable forest management.

NORAD is currently supporting Phase III (2016-2020) of the Global Comparative Study on REDD+, which focuses more closely – but not exclusively – on eight countries deemed key by NORAD’s Norway International Climate and Forest Initiative (NICFI) program: Brazil, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Guyana, Indonesia, Myanmar, Peru and Vietnam.

For more information on the project, please see the GCS REDD+ website.
