The event addresses the benefits and costs associated with forest conservation initiatives across multiple countries, and their equity implications. It builds on results gathered from an ongoing multi-year European Commission-funded project aimed to provide policy options and guidance to improve the design, development, and implementation of REDD+ benefit sharing mechanisms.

Guiding Principles for Delivering Coastal Wetland Carbon Projects

Coastal wetland ecosystems play a significant role in sequestering and storing carbon in biomass and soils. These ecosystems, however, facing tremendous pressure and large portion of them are already degraded due to unsustainable cuttings and aquaculture development. This panel will discuss options for policy and practice for improving sustainability and realizing the full mitigation and adaptation potential of coastal wetland ecosystems.
