Himalayan forests are home to abundant biodiversity, including a number of wild edibles. Forests play an important role in the livelihoods of rural people worldwide, particularly in the poorest socio-economic groups (i.e., indigenous peoples, peasant communities, tribal and rural societies) living in and around forested areas. Forest plant species serve to meet at least part of people’s food, medicine, fibre, fuel, and other needs for millennia. Forests are home too many, not only a tourist attraction. Hence, conservation through proper investigation, research and management is important for healthy forests.

Keep up the good work.
This beautiful photograph is the reflection of a well preserved biodiversitically reach forest in Garhwal Himalayan region. This is only possible due to great awareness among stake holders of the biodiversity value and awareness towards environment.
