The remote Lake Sentarum National Park in the headwater of the Kapuas river in West Kalimantan protects one of the world’s most biodiverse lake ecosystems, comprised of over 40,000 ha of seasonally inundated freshwater swamp and peat forest. This mixed terrestrial and aquatic ecoregion harbors a traditional fishing industry that supplies over 70% of the fish sold at markets across West Kalimantan. The national park is unique in that about 3,000 people, in 20 village enclaves, live within the protected area, including Melayu, Dayak Iban, Dayak Kantuk and Dayak Embaloh tribes.

I vote for this incredible photo! As always, you’ve captured the clear, raw beauty of our precious earth for all to enjoy. I pray that this area will be kept safe. I’m loving the reflections! xx Gem
Beautiful photo.
good luck!
This is one incredible photo of Danau Sentarum. I voted for this and hope its not the last time we see pristine images of it. Much of the area will be developed into more and more palm oil plantations.
Thanks Robert. Yes unfortuneately Danau Sentarum National Park is increasingly being surrounded by oil palm plantations – as the companies etch their way closer and closer into the heart of Borneo
