Mauricio Amore is the CEO of Monsanto company in Indonesia. He leads the Indonesian team in developing strategies to achieve the company’s vision for sustainable agriculture. Monsanto believes ‘Improving Agriculture Improves Lives’, and is focused on improving lives by enabling farmers to produce more and conserve more through its innovative corn seeds that are researched and developed to suit Indonesian agro-climatic conditions, Roundup® herbicide for weeding management; and partnerships. The Indonesia team comprises of 300+ employees, 75 per cent of whom are from rural backgrounds, and makes 380+ thousands direct farmer contacts annually.

A 17-year agriculture sector veteran, Mauricio has served successfully in several roles within the company. He started his career in Monsanto Colombia, moved then to Monsanto Mexico and is currently Leading Monsanto Indonesia. Mauricio has been involved in a variety of positions spanning from Finance Business Analyst in Colombia, Plant Manager for Agrochemicals Business in Mexico & Central America, Finance Manager – Operations Latin America, Business Lead for Mexico and other strategic positions within the company. Prior to leading Monsanto Indonesia, Mauricio was responsible for the Customer Relations for Latin America North Region.

Mauricio also represents the Company at CropLife Indonesia, American Chamber of Commerce, and other related industry chambers. Mauricio holds a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Universidad De Los Andes, Colombia and an MBA degree from Yale School of Management, New Haven Connecticut.

Through DEKALB® Learning Center (DKLC), Monsanto is committed  to provide recommendations from sowing to harvest to 22,500+ farmers annually in four strategic corn production areas in Indonesia (East Java, Central Java, North Sumatera and Lampung); its initiative through Public Private Partnerships (PPPs) with East Java’s government through the PISAGRO (Partnership in Sustainable Agriculture) platform is predicted to benefit 1,500+ small and marginal land holders across Mojokerto, Jombang and Kediri – focused on facilitating farmers to optimize crop productivity and income through better inputs, improved agronomic practices, and market linkages.

Since 2012, the company has also helped to improve the lives of 2,500+ farmer family members in the areas of clean water access, sustainable agriculture, education, disaster rehabilitation, in partnerships with rural development non-government organizations in Indonesia. At the recent Business for the Environment (B4E) Indonesia Summit, the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Kadin, Monsanto Indonesia was awarded as a winner of the 2nd annual Sustainable Business Awards (SBA), recognized for best practices and leadership in sustainable business among Indonesian and multinational companies.
