Forest tenure reform in Uganda: An interview with Justine Namaalwa

A multi-stakeholder colloquium was held on 22 November 2017 in Kampala, Uganda, to discuss results so far in a study of land and tenure reform in the country. The research forms part of a Global Comparative Study on Forest Tenure Reform (GCS-Tenure), with simultaneous work ongoing in Uganda, Indonesia and Peru. In this interview, Justine Namaalwa from Makerere University, as a research partner in the GCS-Tenure study in Uganda, talks about the importance of formalizing communities’ informal rights to forests.
