Vietnam has witnessed a dramatical increase of hydropower projects in upstream areas. As a result, large areas of forest have been drowned and local people do not have enough water for their cultivation. This picture shows a dead tree in a hydropower reservoir. All of the area of this reservoir is on a part of protected forest area. The question here is: Do development projects take environmental and social aspects in concern or are they only focusing on economic aspects?
