Non-timber forest products are the main source of livelihoods for forest dwellers. Collection of forest products like Amla (Indian gooseberry) and selling harvests at the local markets have been the traditional practice for many years. With the support from development organizations like the Indian Grameen Services, knowledge and skills have been transformed through value addition to ensure price realization for the commodities. For example, the communities are now engaging in sorting, grading and processing for improved livelihoods.
