Northwest Viet Nam is a hilly region and is one among the poorest provinces in the country. Rapid expansion of commercial agriculture such as maize production to support economic development and reduce poverty has transformed the landscape, especially in the last decade. Forests and trees seem to have no place. To sustain this landscape intervention such as agroforestry would be important.
