Since the reflection and planning phase of the project, CIFOR has been working with Fire Care Community (MPA) members and the local government to produce an up-to-date, accurate and detailed map of peat depth for Dompas village.

Sharing the responsibilities and cost–benefits of community-based fire prevention and peatland restoration
To encourage active participation and changes in community behavior, the CIFOR PAR CBFPR Team hosted focus group discussions (FGDs) to prepare for the sharing of responsibilities and cost–benefits. The FGDs were held in the office of the Dompas village government on 18 and 20 November 2018.
Highlights from CIFOR’s baseline study on fire and haze in Dompas village, Bengkalis district, Riau province
In 2017, with support from the UK’s Department for International Development (DFID), CIFOR worked with the local community and national, subnational and local government to document a baseline study for Dompas village, assessing its socio-economic condition, land use types, livelihoods and community perceptions.
