Senior Programme Manager, the Foundation for Sumatran Orangutan Conservation – Orangutan Information Centre (YOSL-OIC).

Masrizal Saraan is a Senior Programme Manager in the YOSL-OIC, a local conservation NGO in Sumatra, Indonesia dedicated to the conservation of Sumatran orangutan (Pongo abelii) and their rainforest homes.

These days he works closely with the Indonesian Ministry of Environment and Forestry’s Department of Conservation of Natural Resources and Ecosystems (KSDAE), especially in and around the Gunung Leuser National Park (GLNP) and Leuser Ecosystem to implement Development of Collaborative Protection and Conservation Programme of Leuser Ecosystem in northern Sumatra, part of the UNESCO Sumatra Rainforest World Heritage Site. This programme was supported by TFCA Sumatra.

His current project is forest restoration, forest protection through community involvement and community development in and around the GLNP, where he use eco-tourism and edu-tourism as an approaches by offering ecotourism actors (nature tourist) to engage and involved in forest conservation effort.
