Mangroves are one of the least noticed yet most important ecosystems. One the most vital functions mangroves do is it acts as the breeding ground for sea fishes. Also, the mangroves have enormous amount of organic matters, which are brought down by rivers. These organic matters are consumed by small worms are consumed by fish hatchlings. Thus it acts as a basic unit in maintaining fish population in the sea. Fisheries is vital for the sustenance of millions of marginal fisher folk in Indonesia.
