Azwar Ma’as is a Soil Sciences (Pedologist) lecturer and  swampy land specialist from Gadjah Mada University. He earned his Bachelors degree from the Faculty of Agriculture at Gadjah Mada University and his Doctoral degree from the University of Ghent, Belgium. Ma’as is a member of the Indonesian Peatland Society and Indonesian Soil Sciences Society Expertise in Peatland. He has been invited and attended several professional training and events in Indonesia and internationally, such as the environmental impact assessment training in environmental studies center at Gadjah Mada University, International Peat Symposium, International Peat Workshop, International Symposium and Workshop on Tropical Peatlands, and many more.
