Dr Ma Hwan-ok is Project Manager at the International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO). He recently facilitated the formulation of ITTO Voluntary Guidelines for the Sustainable Management of Natural Tropical Forests and ITTO Guidelines for Environmental and Social Safeguards. He is currently working for capacity building projects in restoration of degraded forests including mangroves, community forest, SFM and REDD+ governance, forest-based CC mitigation and adaptation, and conservation of biodiversity under ITTO/CBD Collaborative Initiative for Tropical Forest Biodiversity. He holds a bachelors in forestry from Korea University, Seoul, Korea, masters in forest products marketing and PhD in forest resource economics from the University of Washington, Seattle, USA.
