Adam Gerrand applies his substantial energy and skills gained over 25 years of international experience to increase our knowledge of the world’s forests and to benefit the livelihoods of people who depend on them. Gerrand currently works at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) on the UN-REDD Program developing national capacities for forest monitoring and greenhouse gas reporting as part of global program to Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation (REDD+) in developing countries. From 2008 to early 2012, Adam was the Coordinator of the FAO Global Forest Resources Assessment (FRA) Global Forest Remote Sensing Survey (RSS) team. The RSS is a study aiming to improve the estimates of changes in the world’s forest area, especially to get better deforestation estimates.
