
Ruth Turia is currently the Director of Forest Policy and Planning with the Papua New Guinea Forest Authority. In her current role, she engages with both national and international agencies on issues relating to forestry, but also general policy issues relating to natural resource management and climate change. Ruth has spent more than 34 years with the PNG forestry sector, 24 of which was with the government forestry agency, working in various sections, from industrial forest monitoring (enforcement and compliance) to forest policy and planning, and 10 years as an academic (seven as a postgraduate student and three as an academic staff). She has also worked with external research and education partners, in research and learning directed at addressing the challenges of forest management and sustainability and general natural resource management.
